Yes you can. In case of an atomic transaction the compensation code is only called after the atomic transaction completes or commits. The reason being that atomic transaction follow ACID,(atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability). Hence once the transaction commits the compensation code is called to reverse the effect of the transaction.
